Gianni Buonomo Vintners of Ocean Beach is #1 Recommended San Diego Winery.
San Diego CA – June 7, 2017 – Is the beer soaked city of San Diego ready for fine wine? In her article for ThereSanDiego, writer Megan Edmiston asks, “Beer’d out? Shine on with your wine on” and suggests that its time for San Diegans to broaden their horizons.
Gianni Buonomo Vintners of Ocean Beach was the #1 recommended San Diego winery to broaden those horizons. http://theresandiego.com/beerd-out-wine-your-way-through-one-of-these-san-diego-wineries/
With over 120 breweries bloating San Diego County, the craft brew market is ripe to relinquish some of its market share for locally produced adult beverages. Winemaker and Managing Director of Gianni Buonomo Vintners Keith Rolle agrees. He has seen an uptick in his super-premium, locally produced wine over the past couple of years. “It’s entirely possible that San Diegans might be getting a little beer’d out.”
Gianni Buonomo hangs its hat on its Sangiovese. Rolle brings the grapes from Washington to San Diego and create a Super-Tuscan style blend which includes 10% Petit Verdot. “That’s pretty much our flagship wine,” Rolle explains. I also source grapes from the Sierra Foothills near Placerville. The Barbera and Charbono are really exiting, food-friendly wines that pair with a lot of different dishes.”
The Tasting Room at Gianni Buonomo Vintners is just two blocks from the Pacific surf and is open to the public Wednesday through Sunday and by private appointment on Monday and Tuesday.
