Farewell Ocean Beach

It’s bittersweet to say good bye to the community that got in on the ground floor to support us. Few gave us much chance to survive on the beer soaked Avenue called Newport. Thanks to you we not only survived, but we flourished.

Good bye Ocean Beach. Thank you very much.

Over the next six weeks Gianni Buonomo Vintners will be moving from the place we’ve called home for the past nine years.

The lease on our building is up for renewal on July 31. The landlord is raising rent 20%. That kind of increase is too great for a small, community based winery to manage.

Over the past nine years we’ve made thousands of new friends like you. You helped punch down fermenting grapes. You helped to press the grapes and put the wine into barrels. You were able to participate in the wine making process from grape to glass. You made this YOUR winery.

Back in 2015 we took a tired, old antique store and turned it into a center where a group of individuals came together to create a loving, caring and respecting community.

During this time, we’ve hosted fundraisers, retirement parties, bridal showers, fashion shows, birthday parties, potlucks, events for civic organizations, bachelorette parties and wedding receptions.

During this time, we produced about 15,000 cases of wine. These wines have earned top awards in some of the most prestigious international and domestic wine competitions.

During this time, we’ve been voted BEST SAN DIEGO WINERY for the past seven consecutive years by the readers of San Diego Magazine.

As bittersweet as it is to move, there is also an excitement about starting anew.

Plus, we’re only moving three miles away into the shadow of the Sports Arena…. and we have plenty of parking for you!

Our new address will be 3492 Pickett Street, San Diego CA 92110.

Our Grand Opening at the new winery is slated for Saturday, September 21.

Details will follow. Of course, you’ll be invited.

Thank you for making such a positive impact in the Ocean Beach and Point Loma communities.

You helped the dream come true.
